Katie Yam
ABOUT
After earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in social ecology, specializing in criminology, at the University of California, Irvine in 1996, Katie pursued her law degree at Whittier Law School. In the summer of 2000, she completed an externship in Singapore, which extended her legal knowledge to other parts of the world.
Katie worked as in-house counsel for a mortgage company, where she practiced in contracts and mortgage banking law. In 2004, she moved from Orange County to Bakersfield and joined Hanna Brophy. She was in the Bakersfield office for 14 years when her call of duty to open the Van Nuys office in 2017. She now runs the Van Nuys office and resides in West Hills, CA.
As a certified legal specialist in workers’ compensation, she has handled complex cases, including but not limited to AOE/COE trials with numerous witnesses, 132a claims, and serious & willful allegations. She represents self-insured employers and insurance carriers. She is a proponent of early case settlements and aggressive case handling.
