ABOUT

Matt began his legal career while serving as an officer in the United States Coast Guard in the San Francisco Bay Area.  His service as a  judge advocate (in-house counsel) occupied the second half of his 20 year military career.  Matt specialized in criminal prosecution and associated law enforcement investigations.  His legal experience included training and advising administrative investigators, providing real time, operational legal advice in support of international counter-drug operations, and the provision of government ethics opinions for senior Coast Guard leaders.  His service included 3 years as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate (Deputy General Counsel) to the Pacific Area Commander in Alameda, California with an area of responsibility from “Montana to Madegascar”, where he supervised a team of attorneys prosecuting the service’s highest criminal case load at that time.  Since leaving the Coast Guard, at the rank of Commander in 2017, Matt has applied his legal acumen to support corporate HR and employee relations operations, again training investigators, supporting compliance activities, and working closely with in-house counsel’s offices in the technology, retail, and health care industries.  He brings with him a wealth of client relations and investigative experience and solid business acumen.
